Matheus Araujo BSc. in Biological Sciences, MSc. in Ecology and Evolution

About me

Hi, my name is Matheus Araujo!

I am a biologist interested in assessing (i) uncertainty in biodiversity big-data and (ii) understanding the mechanisms that influence global biodiversity patterns. Broadly, my work, and my passion, focus on the development of quantitative methods to answer ecological and evolutionary questions in macroecology.

I am currently a PhD candidate at the Universidade Federal de Goiás (Brazil), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thiago Rangel. Part of my research involves developing methods and softwares to quantify uncertainty in species distribution ranges, niche estimates, and phylogenetic measures. In addition, I investigate biodiversity patterns in environmental space under the co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Catherine Graham, during my internship at the Swiss Federal Research Institute (Switzerland).

I am open to postdoctoral opportunities starting in early 2027.
